Yooka-Laylee Multiplayer Arcade Mode Demoed in New Let’s Play Video

February 14, 2017 by Jordan Biazzo

The game keeps getting better!

Last month, Playtonic Games and Team 17 announced that Yooka-Laylee will come with eight unique multiplayer arcade modes. They will be able to be played solo, or on local co-op.

Not much detail was given besides the names and a quick description of how the game mode plays, which follows as below:

• Glaciators Brawler Arena – Collect the most quills, the main collectible in the game
• Kartos Karting – Race to the finish against other players
• Gun-let Run – Blast away enemies in a shoot ’em up extraordinaire
• Jobstacle Course – Traverse an obstacle course against your friends
• Bag the Flag – A capture the flag style game

However, thanks to a new let’s play video via IGN, we got our first look at a multiplayer mode — Glaciators Brawler Arena. Check out the video down below:

Yooka-Laylee will feature 8 unique multiplayer games that can be found in dated dinosaur Rextro’s Arcade, and a two player buddy mode for the main adventure!

Rextro’s Arcade can be tackled solo to achieve high scores, or in local couch co-op with up to four players! Compete in the Glaciators brawler arena to collect the most quills, race to the finish line in Kartos Karting, fight for the flag in Blag the Flag, blast away the enemies in shoot-em-up Gun-let Run and traverse both Jobstacle Course and Hurdle Hijinx, plus more!

To engage in two player co-operative gameplay, simply connect an additional controller to buddy up! Taking control of the Bee Team, the second player will able to grab quills and collect and store butterflies for when Yooka and Laylee are really in need of health or energy boost. They can even stop some traps to help the player traverse past particularly tricky obstacles!

Yooka-Laylee will release on April 11 for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PC, Mac and Linux. There was a Nintendo Wii U version planned, but Playtonic opted for a Nintendo Switch version instead due to ‘unforseen technical difficulties’.
