Okay, look. I know we have no shortage of shooters in games. Hell I stopped considering Fuse based on change of tone alone: that's just how oversaturated the market is. Almost nothing is enough to make you gloss over a title that is decently competent.
I think you should pay attention to this game, though. Waiting for Horus is a fast-paced arena third person shooter that is currently in development, but that you can play the beta of now.
Admittedly, there aren't a terrible number of people playing it. Such are the woes of indies making a game in a crowded space, I suppose. But if you can get even just one friend playing, you'll see why this is worth experiencing.
Obviously the visuals are of note, the cel-shaded aesthetic is beautiful to look at and you can't help but marvel at the world around you, however sparse it is. But the real kick is in the movement. Boy, does it feel good. You're a little machine…thing that can glide and boost. Currently there are only two weapons, primary and secondary – one more assault rifle-y and one more shotgun-y.
These will probably be thinkered with–I think it's kind of dumb that the secondary weapon can one shot you–but the joy is in trying to coordinate your aiming with such high speeds. Quick reflexes will reign supreme here. I played with just three people for a couple of rounds yesterday, and it was a ton of fun.
Oh and the music is AMAZING. Your robot thing bounces up and down to the rythym.
I urge you to download it here, and then maybe give it a Steam Greenlight vote here–this isn't a game that deserves to be ignored.
