The Kodamas continue into the Chugoku Region of Nioh. This is the second set of maps, so we’re nearing the 50 Kodama mark — and don’t forget that these Kodama are completely separate from the first area’s helpful sprites. You’ll need to collect all 25 to get the usual bonuses and blessings. The more Kodama you collect, the more likely enemies will drop all that awesome stuff you want; armor, swords, healing items, and more. They’re pretty useful, and most are easy to find, but some you’re bound to miss. That’s where we come in.
Check out all the Chugoku locations below. This time around, the Kodama also appear in sub missions, meaning you’ll have to explore some optional areas to get your grubby hands on these weird little monsters. There are still four more areas to go, so buckle in as our Kodama locations guide continues.
Kodama Locations [Chugoku]
Note: Kodama are glowing-green Yokai that increase one of five “blessings” at the shrine: Amrita drop rate increase, weapon drop rate increase, armor drop rate increase, elixir drop rate increase, and crafting material drop rate increase. All Kodama are specific to their region, and will not upgrade shrines in other regions. There are 25 Kodama in each region.
Main Mission: The Silver Mine Writhes
- Kodama #1: In the first large room from the starting shrine, drop down at the ladder and look in the alcove beneath the scaffolding to the right. Smash the crates to discover a Kodama.
- Kodama #2: Found directly left of the Central Mine Key door, which leads back to the Shrine. If you’re going through the unlocked door from the shrine, turn right to spot the hidden Kodama.
- Kodama #3: In the second large chamber, go past the ventilation device and drop down onto the lower area. Continue to the back wall and turn left, then climb the ladder up. At the top, follow the path to the right until you reach a corpse. Knock over the debris filled with rocks to find a Kodama on the edge.
- Kodama #4: From the previous Kodama, look underneath the catwalk for another wooden scaffolding you can just narrowly drop down to reach. Past the filtration device and the healing spring, you’ll find another Kodama.
- Kodama #5: In the third large chamber (where the Central Mine Key door is located) climb up onto the highest scaffolding and look for a large wooden bucket, next to the bridge that crosses over the tall stone pillar in the middle. Not far from the top of a ladder.
- Kodama #6: In the same chamber, go to the door on the right side (still at the top of the scaffolds, from the entrance) — from the door, look down for another narrow wooden platform. Drop down to get this Kodama.
- Kodama #7: At the fourth large chamber (past the second Shrine, through the Central Mine door), follow the upper catwalks to a section where the wooden bridges out towards a cave passage. Drop down to the extended platform and follow the path left to a ledge with a Kodama.
- Kodama #8: The next one is actually very close by. Drop down from Kodama #7 and enter the passage to the left with wooden supports. Past the ladder, look left to discover a Kodama.
- Kodama #9: Another nearby Kodama. Simply climb the ladder from Kodama #8 and run toward the alcove where a wheel Yokia bursts through the crates to attack. Look in the alcove where the Yokai was hiding to collect the Kodama.
Main Mission: The Ocean Roars Again
- Kodama #10: Past the first shrine, cross the entrance bridge and look in the left corner, behind the crates.
- Kodama #11: Continue to the next set of bridges, forward from the first. It branches off to the right — look in the corner, behind more debris to spot this Kodama.
- Kodama #12: Follow the rickety makeshift bridge to the area with the pontoon boat crashed into the raised platform. Drop down from the raised platform right next to the boat to spot the spirit.
- Kodama #13: From the raised platform, continue toward the enclosed hallway before reaching the overturned ship. After exiting the hall, look right for a narrow path along the wall blocked by stacked crates. Smash the crates and follow the ruined floor to a dead end.
- Kodama #14: Go through the overturned ship and continue forward to the fork. Turn right and find the smaller wrecked ship. Use the single wooden board to get on the deck, then climb up the ladder. To the left of the ramp, there’s another hidden Kodama.
- Kodama #15: Get to the top of the overturned ship from the rooftops and drop down on the back-right side. After dropping down, turn left and look in the tiny alcove.
- Kodama #16: Go right from the previous Kodama and follow the interior hallways until you reach an exit to the rocky shore. Just as you step outside, turn left and check out the easy-to-miss wooden walkway leading to a Kodama.
- Kodama #17: This one is hard to miss. Find it to the left of the large religious ceremony area with the bonfire and the shortcut door that can only be opening from inside the room.
- Kodama #18: The last one is tricky. Near the raised platform (Kodama #12), there’s a wooden ramp that leads up to the rooftops. From the top of the ramp, run all the way back to the far-left corner to find a demon guarding a ladder that leads down. Climb down the ladder to collect this mission’s final Kodama.
Sub Mission: The Three Angry Gods
- Kodama #19: From the ramp, climb the dirt path up until you spot a lower platform on the left, before reaching the stairs. Drop down to grab this Kodama.
- Kodama #20: Get to the top of the temple and enter the cavern. Drop down the two ladders to reach the lowest ladder shortcut. To the left, there’s an Illusory Wall. Kill the monster and find the Kodama at the end of the path.
- Kodama #21: On the large temple rooftop, at the front center, right above the entrance doors overlooking the giant stairs.
- Kodama #22: Next to the cavern that eventually leads to the shortcut ladder, look down for an unreachable platform. Drop down from above to access this Kodama.
Sub Mission: The Conspirators
- Kodama #23: From the first shrine, huge the right edge of the map. Enter the water and look for the raised rocky ridge that marks the end of the shallows. The first Kodama is there.
- Kodama #24: Get to the upper deck of the ruined ship, and climb the ladder at the base of the crow’s nest. At the top, turn left to spot this Kodama.
- Kodama #25: Inside the large structure on the main deck of the ship, go inside and look for a section of floor that will fall away. Step onto or attack it and drop down into the room below. Clear the junk to find a treasure chest and a Kodama.
