Earlier this year Sony announced that PS4 Users will soon be able to use their external HDD on their console for storage of saved games and applications, While Wii U and Xbox One players have already had this function, there is one drawback with Sony – you will only be able to use one external HDD.
While this shouldn’t come as a train smash to most PS4 fans as the prospect of just buying a larger external HDD exists, it just kind of sucks to see that the Xbox One allows players to use multiple external HDD where as PS4 players can only use one.
That being said, the features introduced in the PS4 4.50 firmware is still in beta. Hopefully, when the official firmware releases in a few months/weeks, it will introduce more features and remove the limitation of being able to only use 1 hard drive at a time. There is also a current bug in the firmware update which disconnects the HDD upon returning from rest mode and giving you the process of repairing the hard drive just because you didn’t disconnect the hard drive properly when you put your PS4 on rest mode.
