Having positioned ourselves firmly beneath the slow-dripping tap that is Ace Attorney news, we have now learned some new information that will surely rend the Japanese games industry asunder: Professor Layton vs Ace Attorney, the Level-5/Capcom crossover game starring the eponymous tophatted professor and vocal defense attorney Phoenix Wright, has a release date.
We know. We know. Breathe.
Turns out the release date was teased on a back cover ad on the most recent Famitsu. In the ad, the number string “6211” is shown, and Professor Layton mentions “turnabout” (from the Japanese name of the Ace Attorney series, Gyakuten Saiban) as a not-so-subtle hint that readers should literally turn the magazine upside-down, revealing “1129,” or November 29th. We swear, 21st century detective work is hard stuff.
Siliconera also gives us the first gameplay details for the “Professor Layton” part of Professor Layton vs. Ace Attorney. According to Famitsu, “the gentlemanly professor and his sidekick luke will explore Labyrinth City Nazo (nazo is “puzzle” in Japanese) and talk to people in town.” The article adds that the title will continue the 3D cell-shaded style from Professor Layton and the Mask of Miracles.
Thanks, Siliconera.
