ArenaNet has published the first official trailer for Guild Wars 2 titled “Our Time is Now.” It’s out a couple of weeks after the game’s release, and is done in live action and CGI.
The trailer doesn’t seem to have anything to do with Guild Wars 2 for the first minute and a half until the live action actors transform into the characters they’re playing in the game. The video was shot by James McTeigue, assistant director of V for Vendetta and many other films.
The purpose of the trailer—we suppose—is to invite players from the “real world” to partake in Guild Wars 2’s large and persistent fantasy world of Tyria. If that’s the intention, it does a pretty good job at it.
Like its predecessor, Guild Wars 2 is a massively multiplayer online role-playing game with a subscription-free business model so players can play it whenever they like without ever having to pay an additional cent for on-going content. Described as the “deepest, most advanced MMO on the market”, the game offers dynamic PVE storytelling and large-scale PVP combat.
It’s out now for the PC.
