Final Fantasy XV launched back on November 29, 2016, for the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One platforms. Since its release, the video game saw favorable reception from fans and critics alike with the title even winning a number of awards from gaming publications. However, now that the title is out for consoles, the director behind the production is seeking a PC port.
The video game was directed by Hajime Tabata who recently was interviewed by Famitsu, which was translated and reported by Gematsu. During the interview, Hajime Tabata spoke of his desire to see Final Fantasy XV launch on the PC platform. This would not only help give more gamers around the world an opportunity to enjoy Final Fantasy XV but also give a big feature that would help shape the overall Final Fantasy XV experience.
One of the biggest features that Hajime Tabata is seeking out of from a PC port is mod support. While showcasing Final Fantasy XV on high-end machines would be nice, mod support would add a number of exclusive features for the PC platform.
“I’d like to release the game on PC as a technical attempt. I want to show PC users Final Fantasy XV running on high-end machines, and we personally would like to see it, too. Also, I would like to try developing on PC to pursue a unique way of playing with PC-exclusive features like making your own quests and enjoying the world using things like mods.”
Online mod support has helped keep gameplay fresh and exciting for a variety of video game titles. There could potentially be new campaigns and in-game items all of which would be user-created. So far, there’s no word on if this PC port is already in development or just wishful thinking from the game director. Nevertheless, we’re sure there are plenty of Final Fantasy fans who would be all for a new PC port of the game with mod support.
