Watching the behind the scenes on games is fascinating, and Forza Horizon is no exception. I say this even though I don't really care about racing games!
In this first episode, we hear the developers talk about how much work and effort is being put into Forza, which they describe as a "celebration of car culture." I didn't even know there was such a thing as car culture, to be honest.
They're trying to build a place in which "cars belong" – which makes sense, given that the game is an open world game. Also not something I was aware people were interested in, but they're making open-world everything nowadays, huh?
The game is massive, they say (neccesary for an open-world game, really–else what are you exploring?) and the video features scenic vistas that players will be able to explore. But the roads to these vistas won't be empty–there's going to be traffic. Something to keep track of while you play, aside from the people that you'll be racing. They say you'll be able to go anywhere, so I wonder if that means you can deviate from the roads much? There's only so far a car can go, but this is a video game, too. Listen, I just wanna climb mountains with my amazing car.
The devs sound excited over the "level of detail" the game has, which seems to have weather and day cycles. Sunsets galore, which set up the perfect moment to take a glamorous snapshot.
Forza Horizon is out on October 23rd exclusively for Xbox 360.
