With Black Ops 2 currently in development at Treyarch, a smaller title for the Playstation Vita is also being developed to coincide with the game’s release on November 13. Titled Black Ops: Declassified, the game is set to take place within the same setting as the main Black Ops series with a story that ties into the bigger picture.
However, anyone expecting a Treyarch-quality title from Declassified may be in for a disappointment as the studio today revealed that they have little to do with the development of the game. Their only involvement, according to Treyarch communications manager John Rafacz, is to “ensure accuracies within the fiction” and little else. (via vg247)
Activision says that the game is being developed in partnership with Sony for the PS Vita, where the game will be bundled in a special release of the handheld console.
Despite sharing the same publisher, Activision, the game is being developed at a separate studio called Nihilistic, which was responsible for both PlayStation Move Heroes and Resistance: Burning Skies. The latter title, released as a spin-off of the Resistance series for the PS Vita, received a lukewarm reception from both critics and fans of the series.
Black Ops: Declassified will be out in November.
