The Might & Magic Heroes series has come a long way since being a spin-off title from 3DO’s Might and Magic series of old school RPGs. It’s seen numerous iterations and sequels since then—the latest being Might & Magic Heroes VI.
Ubisoft is far from done with the series, and has announced plans to continue Might & Magic Heroes by bringing it to browserland in the form of Might & Magic Heroes Online, where some of its features were highlighted at Ubisoft’s recent presentation at Digital Days in Paris.
According to the publisher, players will be able to fully customize their characters—as they would in the single-player games—and recruit a variety of creatures for their armies after choosing to create a Might or Magic character. There will be equip-able artifacts, weapons, and a variety of other items which confer bonuses to the player’s character during battle. In addition to doing battle against the monsters, players will be able to call upon the aid of their friends to participate in cooperative battles.
In addition to engaging in combat, players can form their own townships, set up trade routes to other players’ domains, and form an economy based on trade.
More than just a socially-focused turn-based strategy game, players in Might & Magic Heroes Online will participate in an on-going narrative about unearthing the Order of the Void, and will be able to travel to a wide variety of locations to pursue their quest.
The game will be free to play when it launches. In the meantime, you can partake in the closed beta.
