In part one of Danger Close's Combat Training series, the developer interviews a real Tier 1 Operator and asks them about how real-life snipers work.
I hate to break it to you, but they don't sit in the highest perch and wait for enemies to come their way while their teammates deal with their objectives. In the video, the Tier 1 Operators talk about how real-life snipers set up a shot in place where they're storming in…yes, they're there to help suppor the team they're with!
However, Bush Wookies (the term most commonly used for snipers in FPS games), will be glad to know that the Woodland camo they see in games are in fact, real.
Here's to hoping that snipers in Warfighter aren't those in Battlefield 3, no? Of course, I'm not sure if I want to see Call of Duty's version of a "sniper" either. No scoping guys like the sniper rifle's a shotgun does NOT make you a sniper.
How would you play and balance the sniper class in FPS games if it was up to you?
