Ubisoft has released a new trailer for Splinter Cell: Blackist and it's not your usual montage of gunfights that we usually see. Instead, they're now Sam Fisher in what he does best — and that's taking people down silently.
In this video called the "Ghost" playthrough, Splinter Cell Community Developer Zack Cooper narrates what we see on-screen. It starts on the Mirawa basecamp, the same level we see in the E3 demo where they announced the game, but this time, we get to see Sam do things differently.
While you might be wondering how they're showing stealth off in broad daylight, Ubisoft has smartly included a picture-in-picture footage of the differences the video has with the demo shown off at E3 and Gamescom. Here, Fisher uses his environments more instead of relying on his Mark and Execute ability. It's a less bad-ass way of doing it, but at least players have the opportunity to play the game differently.
Of course, seeing Fisher walk away from a guard who's a mere five-feet away from where he is with no cover is a bit funny to watch. It just looks "off" for some reason.
In addition to the stealth mechanics, we again see Fisher do his best Assassin's Creed impression by climbing and jumping his way through the game's environments. Hey, at least we won't spend half the game crouched in every area like in previous Splinter Cell games, right?
Based on what you've seen, are you sold on Splinter Cell: Blacklist or should Ubisoft go back to the series' roots?
Splinter Cell: Blacklist is scheduled for release next year on the Xbox 360, PS3 and PC.
