Team Bondi has courted a lot of drama in the past with the development and release of LA Noire, but no one will deny how talented they are. In spite of whatever travails they may have faced, their games are certainly worth looking forward to.
The team at Team Bondi announced today that it is working on a new game titled Whore of the Orient, which it has planned for release on the PC and next-generation systems. Although the game was announced late last year by studio boss Brendan McNamara, this will be the first time the studio has released assets showing a glimpse of the game in proper.
Whore of the Orient is a historical-themed title, set in the city of Shanghai in the year 1936. In the game, players will be able to roam “the most corrupt and decadent city on the planet” during what was one of China’s most turbulent periods in history.
The game is set on the eve of World War II, when Western powers and Japan vied for control over Manchuria (now China).
"Plaything of Western powers who greedily exploit the Chinese masses. Boiling pot of Chinese nationalism, with the Kuomintang ruthlessly trying to suppress Communism and the labour movement. Home to the International Police Force, a group of Western cops hopelessly trying to keep the lid on and keep the peace."
