In recent days, disgruntled fans of the Elder Scrolls series and PlayStation 3 owners of the game have taken to the official forums to take Bethesda to task for delaying its release of the Dawnguard expansion.
The announcement of Hearthfire two days ago sparked accusations that the developers had delayed, or even halted its development of Dawnguard on the PS3 to push the development of Hearthfire.
This is not the case, says Bethesda's Pete Hines, who says that the development of Dawnguard and Hearthfire are "separate things."
"We are working on multiple projects, even beyond those two things. The entire team doesn't work on one thing at a time," he wrote in response to the complaints. "We're disappointed too, but we're keeping at it."
Bethesda previously explained its reasons for delaying the Dawnguard expansion pack, citing "unsatisfactory" quality. This should comes as no surprise given the game's persistent issues with memory leaks on the PlayStation 3—issues long since dealt with on the Xbox 360 and PC versions of the game. The expansion pack was expected to release alongside the PC version after the 30-day period of exclusivity had ended with Microsoft and Xbox Live.
To be certain, the PS3 version of Dawnguard will eventually happen, but it probably won't be out any time soon.
