Studio Wildcard has released a new content update today for ARK: Survival Evolved on Xbox One and PS4 that adds new beasts and two expansive underwater environments to explore. The new update brings the console versions of the game on-par with the PC version through v253 and includes two full-scale underwater caves that are progression-oriented with artifacts while adding five new creatures.
The PS4 version of this update also adds on the “Procedurally Generated Maps” feature, which is also on-par with the PC and Xbox One, allowing players to generate an infinite variety of new ARKs to experience. The update is available now on Xbox Live and tomorrow on PlayStation Network.
The new dinos and creatures include the Cnidaria Omnimorph, which is a combination of various species of jellyfish, the Troodon Magnanimus, which is a dinosaur that is a smaller relative of the island’s Raptors and very clever, the Pegomastax Fructarator, a harmless herbivore that prefers to live alone and eat plants and that makes an excellent scavenger, the Tusoteuthis Vampyrus which is a monstrous relative of the vampire squid that bears a closer resemblance to the giant squid, and finally the Therizinosaurus Multiensis, which is built like a T-Rex, but is a completely tamable herbivore.
ARK: Survival Evolved is in development for Xbox One via the ID@ Xbox program, Steam Early Access and PS4. The game is currently playable on all three platforms, which includes Oculus Rift VR support, an integration of the Steam community features such as Steam Economy and Steam Workshop for custom maps and mods. Players can host private/LAN servers and have access to a custom-built version of the Unreal Engine 4 Editor for creating mods. The world of ARK is designed to be modder-friendly and ever-expanding!
