RIP Scalebound Has Been Cancelled

January 9, 2017 by Dennis Patrick

It’s official. Scalebound has been killed off.

It’s a pretty short list of the most anticipated video games coming out for Microsoft’s Xbox One console. In fact, high on that list was action third-person RPG title Scalebound. The video game was being developed by Platinum Games and despite missing its original release of 2016, the hype was still strong.

The game development was slowly falling behind according to various reports online and this might have led to the cancellation of Scalebound, though there are no official statements regarding the reasoning behind this production to be halted.

A statement regarding the matter was given to Windows Central, in which Microsoft stated the following.

“After careful deliberation, Microsoft Studios has come to the decision to end production for “Scalebound.” We’re working hard to deliver an amazing lineup of games to our fans this year, including “Halo Wars 2,” “Crackdown 3,” “State of Decay 2,” “Sea of Thieves” and other great experiences. This will come as some very unfortunate news for Xbox One and Windows 10 gamers as Scalebound proved to be one title that gamers may have been looking forward to most in regards of Microsoft exclusivity.

Though it’s likely that several members who previously worked on the project have since been moved to other IP productions, we’re curious to see if Scalebound will continue under a different publisher. There’s no word on if the partnership between Platinum Games and Microsoft will prevent this from happening, but if not, then we could see Scalebound become a Sony PlayStation 4 exclusive or release for a variety of platforms.

Now that Microsoft has killed of Scalebound, what Microsoft exclusive are you looking forward to playing most this year by leaving us a comment down below.
