Custom sneaker artist ‘Freaker Sneaks’ has combined the classic gaming appeal of the Super Nintendo console with Nike’s Air Jordan basketball sneakers to create Super Nintendo sneakers.
Featuring retro tinged tongue tagging and the iconic grey colour scheme of the Super Nintendo, the sneakers also come with the D-Pad and buttons wedged into the back. Both are extracted from an actual Super Nintendo controller, which means they will be pressable. There will be a limited edition run of the sneakers, where a total of ten pairs will be manufactured.
Based in Europe, Freaker Sneaks has been making custom designed shoes since 2004. His portfolio, which is publicly available through Instagram, includes PlayStation 4 sneakers, Star Wars themed R2D2 and C3PO sneakers, Street Fighter 2 sneakers and Sonic The Hedgehog sneakers just to name a few.
Nintendo and Vans have previously collaborated on an 8-bit inspired shoe collection featuring games like Super Mario Bros., Donkey Kong, and The Legend of Zelda.
