Halo 4's multiplayer is set to receive a huge change with the addition of Specializations, which were just announced today.
Specializations can only be used one at a time on your Spartan, and they are only unlocked as you reach level 50 in the game's multiplayer mode. When you use a Specialization, you'll gain access to new ranks and unlock additional customization options for your Spartan.
Although Specializations were leaked far ahead of time a few months ago, we now know for certain that they'll be in the game, and that you'll be able to use them in both Spartan Ops (cooperative) and War Games (multiplayer).
Specializations will provide you with ten extra levels worth of content for each Specialization class you choose, including nine levels of cosmetic armor items and one level for a gameplay modifying perk. These cosmetic armor items include armor sets, a weapon skin, emblems, and a visor color. Each Specialization will allow players to build their skill set around a specific playstyle.
Anyone who picks up the Limited Edition of Halo 4 will have access to all ten Specializations at the game's launch. Everyone else will only have access to Pioneer and Wetworks. The rest of the Specializations will be made available at a later time.
Halo 4 will be out this fall for the Xbox 360.
