Hot on the heels of God of War: Ascension's Gamescom trailer revealed yesterday, we now have official confirmation that God of War: Ascension will have a multiplayer beta later this year.
This confirmation came from none other than the game director himself, Todd Papy. In a post on the official US PlayStation Blog, Papy talked about the the trailer and how they're pushing for the mulitplayer experience to maintan God of War's "epic larger than life moments."
It's still up in the air if the game can actually pull this off, but from what we've seen so far, Sony Santa Monica is on the right track.
Now, how will players experience this without buying the game itself? Well, in addition to talking about the various multiplayer nuances the game has, Papy also promoted the God of War: Saga Collection in the same post. The collection, which will include all God of War games released on home consoles and the PSP (God of War 1-3, Chains of Olympus and Ghost of Sparta), will also include a free one-month PlayStation Plus membership that Papy states will be "perfect for getting into the God of War: Ascension MP beta when it hits PSN later this year."
While Papy didn't confirm if this is the only way to get into Ascension's multiplayer beta, for now it seems a PS+ subscription is needed in order to get a chance to try out the franchise's first foray into multiplayer.
We will, of course, keep you posted if and when more info on the beta becomes available.
God of War: Ascension will be out on March 12, 2013 exclusively for the PS3.
