U.S. Publisher Dark Horse Comics is collaborating with Nintendo to release The Art of Splatoon, a book featuring over 300 2D and 3D illustrations from the game. Splatoon originally came out in 2015 for the Nintendo Wii U, quickly becoming an instant hit that sold out in Japan on launch day.
The Art of Splatoon shows off drawings of characters, concept art, maps, weapons and gear design. There are also storyboards and rough sketches, and hand-drawn comics. Although the book has been available in Japan since last year, this is the first time it is being translated for Western audiences.
The Art of Splatoon will be out from June 13, 2017 for $39.99 USD. Pre-orders are currently available through Amazon. The cover of the B5 book (featured inset) was done by Splatoon Creative Director Seita Inoue.
According to a statement from Splatoon’s Producer Higashi Nigami, there is chance for a sequel depending on the amount of support received from players.
