The official Assassin's Creed twitter account has been posting a series of cryptic, game universe-related tweets over the past couple of days.
Ubisoft has since "denied" that the tweets were anything but intentional, stating that the Twitter account had been taken over by what the company refers to as "technical issues." Needless to say, it's all a part of some cleverly plotted alternate reality game, or ARG, leading up to Assassin's Creed 3's release.
In case you missed them, here's what they wrote:
Tweet 1: "He is gone. #16 is no more. And now they begin. To search for 1 more"
Tweet 2: "THEY are responsible. Abstergo's to blame. They play with our lives. Like it's only a game"
Tweet 3: "They search for the ‘’prophet’’ They’re grasping at straws. Their ill-conceived plans, are riddled with flaws"
The tweets were immediately followed up with an "apology" from Ubisoft, which read: "Sorry for the disruption, Assassins. We were experiencing some technical issues, but we're back up to 100% now! Thanks for your patience!"
If you haven't caught up with the Assassin's Creed storyline, it should be noted that Subject #16 no longer lives, so it'll be curious to find out who made these tweets.
Assassin's Creed 3 is set for release on October 30 this year.
