While the last Prince of Persia game from Ubisoft wasn't exactly a hit, could the publisher be rebooting the franchise yet again?
That certainly seems to be the case as a user on NeoGAF (via the official Prince of Persia forums) has just posted an unconfirmed and unofficial screenshot of the purported reboot.
Here you go.
Now, before you grab your pitchforks and troll Ubisoft, there are a few things you should know before jumping to conclusions.
First, this is an alleged reboot, so Ubisoft can do whatever the hell they want in terms of the game's protagonist — which now seems to be a black man and the game's purported setting — which seems to be based in Egypt, if I'm not mistaken.
Also worth mentioning is that on the bottom of the image, it states "POP_Zero_2." Which is supposed to be Prince of Persia Zero 2, since the original goal for Prince of Persia Zero was supposed to be a Prince of Persia game set in modern (read: now) times.
One more thing to keep in mind is that this is still a rumor so don't go ballistic that the image looks bad, or how the textures look muddy, etc. This is an alleged leaked screenshot of a game that's supposedly being developed. So naturally, it's going to be a bit rough around the edges.
In saying all that, don't be surprised if this is a fake, too.
So, what do you think? Are you fine with Ubisoft going this route for a new Prince of Persia reboot? Do they even need another parkour platformer? They do have the Assasssin's Creed franchise for this, right?
Speculate away! Now it might just be me, but the crowd seems to be looking at one of the prince's body parts in the image…I'll leave it up to you as to which one.
