Square Enix has put together a new video walkthrough of the upcoming Sleeping Dogs, this time showcasing one of the many multi-part police side missions in the game. The game looks like your standard third-person sandbox action game, in the sense that you can drive cars, shoot anyone you want, beat people up and so on. However, the game's protagonist isn't just a bad-ass, he's also an undercover cop and that means you get to solve cases, too.
In this particular mission, the game's protagonist Wei Shen assists in a case where his knowledge and connections in the Triad culture allow him to assist in bringing a murderer to justice. Dead bodies are turning up in the city, but they aren't standard gang killings. Police suspect their deaths to be the work of a serial killer, and Wei Shen is put on the case.
In this new 11-minute clip, game producer Dan Sochan gives us a look at one of the game's many multi-part police side missions open to the player, which can be accessed from the Hong Kong police undercover HQ.
While the trailer might be light on actual action, we do get to see other facets of the game. There's the investigation elements in play as well as Shen using disguises to stealthily get his way. I'm not expecting L.A. Noire levels of complexity here, but this should break up all that fighting once in a while, no?
Obviously, the things shown could be a bit spoiler-ish for some, so watch it at your own discretion.
The video looks great, so needless to say, Sleeping Dogs is going to give Grand Theft Auto a good run for its money.
Sleeping Dogs is out this month for the PS3, Xbox 360 and PC.
