The developers of Total War, Creative Assembly, say that they have plans to offer a very “Saving Private Ryan” sort of experience for the upcoming Total War: Rome 2.
They want what goes on in the battlefield to have a more emotional affect on players, so players don’t feel as detached as they normally would in a wargame.
"We've got naval battle and land battles interacting for the first time, so you can throw ships up beaches and have people 'Saving Private Ryan-ing' it up the beach," said Creative Assembly’s Rob Bartholomew in an interview with MCV.
"When I say Saving Private Ryan, that's a phrase we're using around the office a lot because we're trying to inject that real feeling of horrific warfare," he said. "We want to create that level of human strife, drama and character on a very macro-scale amongst these gigantic battles at the same time.”
Total War: Rome 2 was announced last month and is set for release on the PC later next year.
