If you've been a PC gamer for over two decades, the name "Rise of the Triad" may hold some significance to you. The first person shooter was built upon the Duke Nukem 3D "Build" engine and cast players into a nightmarish island populated by Bond-like villains and their evil henchmen.
Rise of the Triad may soon be making a return, if the official Twitter account for the game is to be believed—and we have no reason to doubt any of it. The account has yet to tweet anything, but its description reads: "The world's most ludicrous shooter has returned!" with links to @Apogee and @InterceptorEnt and a new website registered by Apogee Software.
Interceptor Entertainment developed Duke Nukem 3D: Reloaded under the auspices of Apogee and are reported to be working on a new FPS for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 called Pathfinder. They also have a second, as yet undisclosed game called Project Rogue that's currently in the works for the PC.
There's a good chance that the company will be showing off the game at QuakeCon, which takes place today. We'll report back on it should any new details about Rise of the Triad surface.
Update: Rise of the Triad was just announced at QuakeCon 2012!
