Dishonored 2 suffers from a variety of performance-related issues on the PC. To that end, Arkane Studios has promised to fix them—and fix them they most certainly have. The studio released a beta patch for Dishonored 2 on the PC that you can opt into via Steam, bringing the game up to version 1.1.
It should take care of some of the game’s problems. In particular, the mouse sensitivity should no longer be tied to your framerate, so if your performance stutters, your gameplay won’t be too impacted by it.
The update also fixes a problem related to cloth physics, which caused AMD cards to chug pretty badly. Finally, the game is now set to run with proper CPU priorities so performance won’t suddenly decline after a period of playing.
Arkane is also working on version 1.2, which will address a much broader spectrum of issues. That version will be available next week.
Here’s how you can enter the beta:
- Log into Steam.
- Right Click on Dishonored 2 in your Library.
- Select Properties.
- Select Betas.
- A drop down menu will appear. Select BetaPatch.
- Select OK.
- Wait a few minutes for game to update.
- When done, Dishonored 2 [BetaPatch] should appear in our Library.
Arkane Studios recommends that Nvidia card owners download the GeForce Hot Fix driver version 375.95 before playing the game. The non-hotfixed version that was released yesterday caused 10-series cards to run at half their clockspeed.
