SOE's John Smedley says that the beta for PlanetSide 2 will begin next week "barring any unforeseen circumstances."
The beta announcement for the massively multiplayer online FPS was made in a tweet by the company's president John Smedley, who noted that the beta would begin on either Monday or Tuesday.
Invites will be going out in waves with priority given to veterans of the first game, followed by players who managed to pick up a code from giveaways in magazines and the like.
Like the first game, players will be given the opportunity to serve different factions in varying capacities, ranging from front line soldiers to drivers and pilots of one of the game's many different machines of war. You'll be able to pilot dropships, drive tanks, and even gigantic mechs into battle to support members of your faction who are on foot.
