Gaijin Entertainment and developer Star Gem have just launched the open beta for Star Conflict, a space-combat MMO which shares similarities with the likes of Freelancer.
Star Conflict invites players to control spaceships ranging in size from a variety of agile scouts, fighters, and corsairs to heavily armed frigates.
In the game, players must choose to align themselves with one of six factions. Together, players can team up to take on a variety of missions and pursue battle against other players. PVP is enabled through a lobby-based matchmaking system. As there’s no PVE in the game, much of Star Conflict consists of 32-player territorial battles. Eventually, the developers plan to add a galactic map to keep track of these battles.
Star Conflict is coming to both the PC and Mac.
