Were you impressed by Ubisoft's E3 unveiling of Watch Dogs? Chances are, most of us were blown away by what we've seen. Ubisoft's "upper management" seems to know this already as they're already prepping Watch Dogs to be the publisher's next "big brand."
In the latest issue of OXM, producer Dominic Guay reveals, "as soon as we started showing our results to upper management they were like 'this is our next big brand.'"
Guay relates this to Assassin's Creed and the publisher's other "big games" as Guay adds, "We've had it about every four years, with Splinter Cell, then Assassin's Creed, those big new brands, and Ubisoft want us to continue doing that."
Of course, Ubisoft is doing this so they can create new IPs, too. "We love our brands now, and making these awesome sequels, but you need to bring something new to the table every once in a while, to surprise the player and push the envelope," adds Guay.
While some people might cringe at Ubisoft already thinking of Watch Dogs as a franchise even before its first game is even out, that's normally the case when it comes to these kinds of games. And you have to think that potential blockbusters like Watch Dogs will fuel more money for the publisher to take more risks.
Are you excited for Watch Dogs? What about Watch Dogs: Revelations or Watch Dogs: Brotherhood? Let's just hope the first game is up to snuff, no?
