Valve’s Steam has been a go-to client for purchasing and enjoying video games on the PC platform. While there are plenty of PC gamers out there, having the ability to enjoy your video game collection in a different room from where your main PC setup is located can be a bit difficult. Today, thanks to a report on Polygon, Steam has partnered up with Samsung in order to bring Steam Link right on their upcoming lineup of TVs.
Before, connecting to your Steam library from a television would normally mean using an HDMI connection directly from your PC, a Steam Machine, or one of the cost effective measures being the Steam Link. This was a device that acted like a set-top box, where gamers could stream their Steam catalog from their PC to their television.
While this set-top box would only run you $50, there’s a new viable option coming out soon if you’re in the market for a brand new TV. Valve recently held their Steam Dev Days presentation where only developers were able to attend. During this presentation, it was revealed that Valve has partnered up with Samsung which will start to implement Steam Link right on their upcoming TVs.
There are a few details that we’re interested in learning about such as what controllers will be able to connect with the television. Furthermore, there is no word on just when this lineup of TVs will be hitting the market or their price point.
For those who are not interested in making an investment for a new TV by manufacturer Samsung, the $50 set-top box Steam Link will still be available for purchase.
