Unlike previous Resident Evil titles, the upcoming Resident Evil 6 is slated to feature a health regeneration system not unlike the ones used in the Call of Duty games.
The implementation of a health regeneration system is a move away from the use of health plants, which mostly filled up your inventory and made about as much sense as eating chicken to replenish your health in the original Wolfenstein 3D.
That said, health plants remain, but the game sees the addition of health boxes instead of a single bar. Whenever you take damage, you lose a portion of health in the health box, which slowly regenerates to the max. When an entire box of health is depleted, you'll need an herb to refill it.
With this change, Resident Evil will finally shed its retro trappings, which served to hinder previous games more often than not.
The health regeneration system was revealed with the Xbox 360 demo of the game, released just a few hours ago for owners of Dragon's Dogma.
Resident Evil 6 will be released on November 20 for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.
