September 23, 2016 by Kris Kittie

Gorgeous 4k screenshots from the game, and also a PS4 Pro game play trailer make this DLC look incredible.

These new screenshots for the Rise of the Tomb Raider DLC, Blood Ties have been posted over on the new PlayStation blog, and they look absolutely gorgeous.

The DLC is able to be played with PSVR or in third-person game as normal, but the spooky and atmospheric vibe would likely work best using a VR headset. Blood Ties is a purely explorative pieces of content, though you can revisit the location in a separate variant, called Lara’s Nightmare, which features action-heavy gameplay…and zombies!

Lara’s Nightmare has a very high replay value, since Croft is required to hunt down three supernatural and aggressive skulls. They are hidden throughout the manor and the locations are randomized in each playthrough, which also happens to her weapons and the room keys.

This sidequest is chronologically positioned partway through the main story and is selectable as one of a handful of additional extras from the main menu. The side quest sees Lara returning home to unravel a family mystery. Lara must explore her surroundings, piece together clues, and uncover secrets to learn how to reclaim the Croft Manor as her own.

There is also a co-op Endurance survival mode, where you and a friend are dropped into the middle of a freezing wilderness. Predators prowl the landscape, and consumables and equipment are both rare finds. Cooperation is a necessity for the both of you to survive.

A world premeire 4k gameplay video on the PS4 Pro was also released, which you can watch above. Rise of the Tomb Raider: Blood Ties is coming to PS4 on October 11th worldwide.
