As the dust of E3 settles and the saturation of new titles fades away, the realization is dawning on us that Overstrike wasn’t anywhere to be seen. EA Labels president, Frank Gibeau, let the general media know that Overstrike was absent so it could acquire a little more polish before making its public debut.
In an interview with CVG, Gibeau said, “It felt like we would stand out better later in the summer once we’ve hit some key milestones and we’re able to show off more.”
He could be referencing gamescom, coming up in mid-August. EA has yet to announce plans for the upcoming European conference, so why not add Overstrike to the list? First announced at E3 2011, EA has had gamers on the edge of their seat waiting for the four player co-op FPS title, so much so that we (and they) may have forgotten we’re still poised there.
I think there should be a list for E3 titled “Where are they now?” that gamers can reference when they wonder about the absence of a certain title at the major expo.
