A Danish government website has revealed the first details, as well as concept art of Playdead's follow-up to indie smash hit Limbo.
A working title of "Project 2" has been plastered onto the title (via Kotaku), which will be a platformer that "tells the story of a boy's struggle against evil forces trying to take over the world through questionable experiments on human bodies."
In addition, the website confirms the successor to Limbo will be in color, with platforms it'll be released on being the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, PC and Mac. Featuring a 2D style platforming that takes place in a 3D environment, the title's gameplay will offer "unique puzzles and changing scenarios". Furthermore, the first concept art of the game has surfaced, as seen above.
Project 2 has been in development for well over a year, but Playdead has stressed that the game will take at least another few years to create.
Limbo was a commercial success for Playdead with the title selling over a million units; so good was the sales of Limbo that the developer was able to regain full control of their studio.
