THQ Prez Not Cutting Anymore Teams

June 13, 2012 by Alex Co

Jason Rubin has gone on record to say that he won’t be cutting anymore teams at THQ.

THQ's newly-hired president Jason Rubin has gone on the record to say that no more development teams will be cut at THQ.

Rubin, who's been with the company for less than a month, confirms this in an interview with Joystiq. While he does offer a rather comforting statement for THQ's 1,750 eomployees (as of March 31, 2010), that doesn't mean games won't be cut.

We have the appropriate number of teams and the appropriate number of people working on products, and we're not gonna be continuing to cut teams…But as far as product goes, I think we'll have to find out exactly where that's going.

Speaking of games, Rubin reiterates that the company will still be focusing on core games moving forward, but added that projects are like "clay," wherein they can augmented to suit what's needed.

I'm taking every project as clay, a clay statue that's been built. It's not nearly been completed. It can be augmented, it can be shrunk, it can be changed. Everything is up for change to make the best possible product that could be.

Rubin, who was the co-founder of Naughty Dog, reveals that he's going to be going around the publisher's various studios and take a look at which titles they're going to focus on going forward.

Here's to hoping your favorite THQ franchise won't be affected.

If given the chance, which THQ property would you reinvent or kill off?
