After Hideo Kojima left Konami, the gaming community was left to assume the Metal Gear franchise was confined to Pachinko machines for eternity. But Gamescom brought a surprise out of left field. Metal Gear Survive is the continuation of the video game franchise after the events of Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes, but in an alternate timeline.
Wormholes are coming out of the sky, causing reality to change before our very eyes. The might of the military is left to ruins as biological abominations savagely maul down everything in sight. It’s a part co-op, part stealth game that intends to explore the ideas behind the Metal Gear game in a different light. The “massive threats” this world offers can be taken on by a team of up to 4 players, in an experience where the soldiers of Mother Base try to get home.
“We are delighted to announce another exciting addition to the Metal Gear franchise,” said European President for Konami Digital Entertainment, Tomotada Tashiro. “Metal Gear Survive will offer a fresh take on the series’ famed stealth elements but within a unique co-op setting that is designed for a truly engrossing multi-player experience.”
Metal Gear Survive comes to PC, PS4, and Xbox One in 2017. For more information about the game, check out the website, Twitter, and Facebook.
