Just reading the headline might incite you to say, "you've gotta be kidding me" but apparently Sony may have plans to implement advertisements that interrupt you as you game in the same way that they interrupt you while you're watching an episode of Game of Thrones on HBO.
Sony has filed for a patent allowing them to do just such a thing. The patent is for a piece of software that warns players that their game is about to be interrupted with an ad. The game is then resumed after the ad is shown.
Needless to say, there's nothing worse than getting pulled out of what you're doing with an ad that coaxes you to buy something you don't really need. I hope Sony doesn't go ahead with this for the PlayStation 4 or it'll set a bad precedent. The ads on Microsoft's Xbox Live Dashboard are bad enough. They don't need to be even more intrusive than they already are.
