Indie Game: The Movie Coming to Steam, Could Denote Big Things for the Service

May 25, 2012 by Jacob Saylor

Indie Game: The Movie at first came off as nothing but attention-seeking garbage.

Indie Game: The Movie at first came off as nothing but attention-seeking garbage. However, after critics and the like started getting their hands on the movie, opinions started to change across the board. Its most notable triumph so far can be found in its winning of the World Cinema Documentary Editing Award at Sundance 2012 – no easy feat.

In any case, you can pre-purchase the game now through Steam. It releases on June 13th officially, and will sell for a mere $10.00; there is a special pre-purchase promotion offering ten percent off, should you decide to buy the movie preemptively.

However, this speaks for more than just Indie Game: The Movie. It’s also a big move for Valve – this is their first real foray into selling movies over Steam. Maybe this is the beginning of something much bigger for the company and its digital distribution service?
