PSN Games Get “Pre-Loading” Functionality

May 21, 2012 by Alex Co

Once a feature exclusive to PC gamers, Sony has now implemented pre-loading with games bought from the PSN.

It seems Sony will be giving PS3 users more incentive to buy their games from the PlayStation Network; as the publisher has announced that PS3 users can now pre-load games bought from the PSN Store.

What this means is, PS3 users can now buy the game, download it, and then actviate the game once Sony gives the go-ahead. This means that people who buy from the PSN Store won't be behind when it comes to people who buy from actual physical stores — y'know, because they have to download the actual game an stuff.

The first game to implement this feature is Sony's Move-centric game Sorcery…which, incidentally, is out today.

Of course, this is nothing new for PC gamers who have been enjoying this service for a few years now.

Old feature or not, this is another checkbox PS3 users can tick off when arguing against the PC "master race" crowd, no? Let's just hope Sony decides to do this for every game that's set for release soon.
