According to creator Garry Newman, Gary’s Mod for Mac “isn’t going to be ages away.” The Half Life source mod is one of the most popular steam applications available and has scored hundreds of thousands of downloads on the PC.
The mod is taking shape on the new platform and apart from a few bugs like “it doesn’t convert the name to the localized version of it in the hint” or “how some of the spawnicons start out with a white lining over the top until you hover over them”, it looks all set to launch very soon on the Mac.
Gary wrote on his blog,
Basically, everything else seems to work no problem. Lua works fine. Addons that worked on Windows (that don’t have DLL’s) will also work on the Mac.
Garry’s Mod is a nonlinear physics game, that allows the player to manipulate objects and experiment with physics. Garry’s Mod has been available on Steam’s content delivery service since November 29, 2006. Even though Garry’s Mod is a standalone game, it requires the user to own at least one Source game on Steam such as Half-Life 2, Team Fortress 2, or Counter-Strike: Source.
