It seems EA might have a lot of BF3-goodness in store for fans at this year's E3 — if rumors are to be believed, at least. According to MP1st, they have "reliable sources" that seems to have gotten its hands on a Battlefield 3 fact sheet that states what's in store for the DICE-developed shooter.
Chief among the facts is that EA is planning on unveiling a "Battlefield Premium" service on June 4. For those uninformed, June 4 is the same day that EA will be conducting its E3 press confererence. So it's natural to presume that this new service will most likely be part of its presentation.
However, it's now known at this time if Battlefield Premium will be a paid subscription service or a one-time fee. The source did manage to get the official description so take from it what you will.
"Battlefield™ Premium will land you a number of content drops with unique in-game items not available anywhere else. First out is the one-of-a-kind Premium knife and black dog tag, plus a set of soldier camos, weapon camos, dog tags and Assignments that will make sure you stand out and get more personalization options."
Aside from this purported reveal, DICE seemingly has more plans other than the the announced DLC expansions. The same source states that there will be "Bonus Content" dropping for the game this August. No other info has been given but the description allegedly reads, "Enhance your Battlefield experience with this bonus content drop."
Additionally, while DICE has already announced the Close Quarters, Armored Kill and End Game expansions, the report claims that there's one more expansion stewing for BF3. Details are unknown at this time but it's supposed to be out on March of next year.
Speaking of Close Quarters, the release date for the expansion has also been leaked in the same report. While EA and DICE has kept mum on the infantry-only DLC, the source lists Close Quarters' release date as July 12 — which could prove to be correct, as EA has publicly said that the DLC is scheduled to be out this coming June, though with no concrete date given.
Keep in mind that this are all rumors until confirmed by EA or DICE; although do keep in mind that the same report also outed the double XP event before it was announced by DICE. So there's a very good chance that these rumors are indeed, the real deal.
Do you think it's wise for EA to introduce a premium service for Battlefield 3? What do you make of the rumors so far?
