If you've played Darksiders at all, you'll know that you take on the role of War, who's framed with ending the world and killing all of mankind. Rather than simply attempting to clear his name, War seeks vengeance against everyone who wronged him and ends those responsible for ending the world instead.
The sequel, Darksiders 2, takes place from the perspective of War's brother Death, the oldest and most powerful of the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse. The story takes place concurrent to the events of Darksiders, and Death seeks to uncover all the players involved in the conspiracy and deliver his own personal brand of justice.
A new trailer has been released by Vigil Games to explain all of this backstory, with a lot of new in-game footage.
Darksiders 2 is set for release in August for the PC, Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.
