Marvel and Ubisoft announced today that Marvel Avengers: Battle for Earth is officially in development at Ubisoft's Quebec studio. The announcement shouldn't come as a terribly huge surprise given The Avengers' success in the box office.
The videogame publisher announced that it was partnering up with Marvel to develop the game for Kinect on the Xbox 360 and the Wii U.
"We are excited to team up with Marvel Entertainment to bring some of the most iconic comic book characters from the Marvel line-up to life in motion-gaming," said Ubisoft's Tony Key. "Fans of the Marvel universe and superhero games are going to love the extensive combinations of characters, motion-controlled moves and competitive gameplay."
Although the game isn't being developed as a direct tie-in to the movie, it's focus on the Kinect and the Wii U's motion controls mean it'll be every bit as 'casual' as Kinect Star Wars and not a hardcore game that many gamers are expecting.
Regardless, we look forward to the game's presentation at the upcoming E3, where it'll be demoed for the first time ever.
