Consider the Kingdom Hearts HD Collection and Final Fantasy XII HD confirmed; if these are the games Square Enix have decided to lead with when bringing back their back catalogue of PlayStation 2 games, their more requested games must be going down a slightly different path.
That's not to say that any of these games are bad (although the Conflict games are fairly dated now), but there are few people who would have been begging for these games to make a revival when they're all readily available on PC and there are other Square Enix (read Final Fantasy) games out there that people would love to be brought back.
"With technology and gaming evolving at an ever increasing rate, it's nice to sit back and take the time to enjoy the classics," Ben Bateman wrote on the Square Enix Members blog. "With that in mind we're continuing our mission to bring some of the Square Enix (and Eidos Interactive) classics to the PlayStation Network and Xbox Live. The process is not easy and can sometimes take an extremely long time, but we're getting there and it's totally worth it. We hope this gives you the opportunity to rekindle your youth, and for the youngsters amonst you, a chance to see where it all began."
Just Cause is already available and over the coming weeks you'll be able to pick up Deus Ex, Conflict: Desert Storm 2 and Conflict: Vietnam.
Note: This post deals with the PS3 re-releases, 360 releases will presumably come at a later date.
