The upcoming RPG from Obsidian, South Park: The Game has finally come out of its placeholder of a name and will now be known as South Park: The Stick of Truth. What this means for the game is unknown at this moment, but the update came from the official Xbox Marketplace page which also reveals a new boxart for the title and a possible confirmation of offline coop for 1-2 players.
The screens released earlier this year do show a promising RPG in the making, which will hopefully retain Obsidian's trademarks, but takes a different direction to the epic-scale RPGs we're used to seeing with the South Park humor intact. We're still curious to see how the game will handle fluidly moving between locations, as the fixed perspective might complicate things.
What we do know is that, players will take control of a fully customizable silent protagonist who carries a phone with a facebook-like app making friends across the town. The game offers five classes – wizard, paladin, adventurer, rogue, and a fifth unannounced class(rumored to be one of Cartman's creations). Expect more details to be revealed next month at E3 2012.
