Yesterday The Pirate Bay came under attack when it was announced that the high courts in Britain ordered ISPs to block the controversial file sharing website. However, that was not the end of the assault. The Belgium Anti-Piracy Foundation has forced Telenet and Belgacom to put a DNS block on The Pirate Bay and all of it's mirror sites. However it seems that some clever pirates have figured out a way around this DNS block. Markus Persson, speaking out against internet censorship once again, tweeted the following the other day in response to the block.
As you can see from the link, this is obviously a way to unblock The Pirate Bay. So if the website is blocked then your pronz torrenting addiction is safe…for now.
Notch went on to tweet this:
Despite Notch giving “permission” to pirate his game I ask that you don't. The game is reasonably priced and doesn't deserve to be pirated.
Anyways, Notch has been known for his stance against internet censorship and this does not come as a surprise. Although it is quite bold for such a prominent figure to post a way to circumvent this type of situation. It may be needed though with countries like China blocking almost everything in site, Belgium and England may be next if this train of thought keeps up.
