The archetypal thief Garrett will be bringing more to the table than just stealth according to its developers at Eidos Montreal in his latest foray, Thief 4.
Speaking to OXM at the most recent GDC, Eidos Montreal's Stephane D'Astous hinted that the new entry to the Thief series would go well beyond its hide-and-seek mechanics and offer a bit more.
Without elaborating on what these might be, the developer said that they're treating it like a new IP while respecting the spirit of the franchise—much like they did with Deus Ex: Human Revolution, a game much more stylized than its predecessor thanks to its baroque trappings.
"Deus Ex was the kick-start of this new series of great games, and Thief will be part of that, and Thief will be part of that. We don't want to deliver the same each time. Our mandate is to bring new stuff to the table; games that we'll be talking about for years."
