A guy said that Max Payne is fucking brilliant, so you know it must be true. Okay, to be fair, that guy happens to be a former Max Payne developer named Matias Myllyrinne, not just some random schmuck with an opinion. Matias would know, because he's played it. Rockstar, the current proprietors to the franchise, wanted former Max Payne developers–Remedy–to weigh in on the project.
"Those guys, they just don't put out bad games. And so, in that respect, it's very – it's almost like the best position to be in. It's like somebody's making a great game and you just get to give them input, and it's already brilliant so I've enjoyed it," Matias explains.
So here we are, being reassured that yes, in fact, Max Payne is supposed to be Very Good. Of course, most of us already expected that Max Payne would be a worthwhile game. Rockstar made it. Even Myllyrinne gives some up front props the studio in that regard.
