During Microsoft’s E3 2016 press conference, development studio Capcom revealed their latest installment to the Dead Rising franchise, Dead Rising 4. For some time now we’ve been curious as to if the game is a Microsoft exclusive title. Today we’re learning that Dead Rising 4 is only a timed exclusive title for Microsoft’s platforms, rest easy as the game will likely be releasing on Sony’s PlayStation 4.
The timed exclusivity comments came from a Capcom Vancouver representative who stated the following to ThisGenGaming.
“Capcom Vancouver is developing, MS is publishing. 1 year exclusive with MS. Slightly different deal than DR3 (Dead Rising 3).”
This is some slightly interesting wording as the representative didn’t state that the game will be releasing for the Sony PlayStation 4 or even the upcoming Nintendo NX console. There is some speculation that Dead Rising 4 may only see a release on Steam outside of Microsoft’s exclusive platforms, Windows 10 and Xbox One.
However, if this was the case then the game would likely be highlighted as a console exclusive title for the Xbox One. Out of pure speculation, I believe Sony PlayStation 4 owners can rest easy if they were hoping to pick Dead Rising 4 up. Although, these gamers may still have to wait a bit as Microsoft will have dibs on the video game for an entire year.
