Penny Arcade Adventures Returns As a Retro RPG

April 4, 2012 by Patricia Hernandez

The third episode of Penny Arcade Adventures is being made, and it’s coming in the form of a retro RPG. A fourth game is also in the works.

Penny Arcade Adventures

After a two-year hiatus filled with fan lament, the Penny Arcade Adventures is back with a third episode, and it’s a mouthful. Titled Penny Arcade Adventures: On the Rain-Slick Precipice of Darkness 3, the game was taken up by Ctuhulu Saves The World developers, Zeboyd games. Zeboyd was specifically vetted by fans as the obvious successor to the franchises’ previous developer, Hothead Games.

The game is reported to launch during the summertime, on PC, Mac, XBL, iOS, and Android. Almost everything, really. No pricetag as of yet, but expo-attending folk will be able to take a look at the title during PAX East.

For now, we can get excited over the Final Fantasy and Grandia influences–the latter, particularly evident in the games retro visuals, the former informing the way the combat works. Rain-Slick 3 features a type of real-time combat system, ensuring that Rain-Slick 3 will have a pronounced nostalgic feel to it.
